The Catholic Church uses media for their own beneficial purposes. As technology has progressed, technology has helped the Church reach out to more of its followers to be able to worship and explore more knowledge of the Church. Media and technology have also helped communities engage more with others by advertising new opportunities to them.

In the Duomo Di Orvieto, there were small machines around the Cathedral that allowed people to listen and hear the history about what they were seeing. In the past, people could still visit the Church but may not have known exactly what they were visiting and why it held any significance. With technological advances, knowledge has become more readily available.

Visiting a Catholic Church in Italy allows one to see how engaging the Catholic Church is with media and how it has helped bring communities together as one. The Church of the Madonna delle Grazie del Rivaio in Castiglion Fiorentino excellently portrays how Catholic engagement in media creates unity. The Church uses pamphlets during the service that allow everyone to follow along with the sermon and even have sections laid out for people to interact with one another. Although the town being smaller may help create a stronger sense of community, the media usage also helps. According to the Communio et Progressio, “Social communications tend to multiply contacts within society and to deepen social consciousness.” (p. 8) Social interactions between members of society allow the community to grow and enhance relationships with one another, leading to a stronger community in the Church.
